My wife is an avid Scrabble player and really likes this calendar. I have been giving her one for Christmas for several years now. However, the old version of the Scrabble Calendar (at least 3 or 4 years ago) was much better; it was easily a 5-Star product. But, I will continue to buy this one until it comes back.Product details

This Scrabble Calendar (2012) was enjoyed enough by my son and his wife that they asked for another one for 2013. I think that rates success.
Been giving these away for years and years. This one does not disappoint. Vendor shipped it in record time also.
I was looking forward to daily scrabble challenges with this calendar, but in reality, only two of the days per week -- MONDAY & TUESDAY -- have anything remotely in the neighborhood of the challenge I was looking for. The "How to Use the Calendar" section describes what is inside. Wish I had known before purchasing.
MONDAY RACK MATCH depicts a scrabble board with a word played on it. You are given 7 letter tiles and have to play to beat the score of the word already played. The answer that appears on the next page gives an answer, but without showing where it should be placed on the board. Sometimes this is evident from the letter it uses in an existing word, but not always.
TUESDAY In 7-LETTER SCRABBLER, you are given a rack of 7 letters and have to try to form a 7-letter word. There is no board to play on, just the rack. I can make 7-letter words all day long. But, again, placing them on the board is the challenging part. Disappointing.
WEDNESDAY TIPS & TRICKS gives helpful hints, tips, and strategies for playing. Well, I got this calendar, so I'm already into Scrabble. It's not really a secret that adding -ed or -ing to the end of a word creates a new word, or that playing a two-letter word is better than swapping tiles or being penalized for them. The kind of tips and tricks listed are strategies you learn just from playing.
THURSDAY WORD CHALLENGE gives a word and you decide whether you would challenge it or not in a real Scrabble game. This is one of the lamest pages, in my opinion.
FRIDAY WORD OF THE DAY reveals a rarely used, high-scoring word. Nothing to do here but read. Meh.
SATURDAY/SUNDAY HOOKS = A word is given and you decide which letter of the alphabet could be added to make a new word. Yawn. And what? Saturday/Sunday is a single page? So this "page-a-day" calendar doesn't even have enough pages to fill the year. The weekend is when I actually have time to relax with my calendar and you give me one lousy page? Geez.
So I give this calendar 3 stars. It has some challenges lurking in its pages once I wade through the filler material and even if those challenges are kind of mediocre. Admittedly, I had false expectations for this calendar. What I should have bought was SCRABBLE Puzzles Volume 1 or one of the many other volumes of Scrabble puzzles that are available. I didn't know these existed. Next year I will forego the calendar and get myself one of those books. Hopefully, my description of its contents, which I was not fortunate enough to have, will help you decide if this calendar is what you are looking for.
Was a gift for my Scrabble-playing Mother-In-Law. She is getting a kick out of it! Many interesting and unheard of words.
My wife has been using this calendar for years. It is becoming harder to locate it in the stores the last couple of years.
Had I known the makeup of this calendar beforehand I would not have purchased it. I was looking forward to having a word game everyday of the year. The "helpful" hints pages are not meaningful to those who know how to play the game.
This calendar has really deteriorated. First it was the change in quality of paper. Now they have virtually eliminated the daily scrabble games. There are some word definitions and some jumbles but there are so few scrabble games in it that it shouldn't even be called a scrabble calendar. I have had one of these for years and I'm disappointed that I can't find another one to purchase. I won't be getting this one again.
